1. What is the Support at a Distance (SAAD) Program?

The Support at a Distance (SAAD) Program is an initiative of the Bukas Palad Foundation that provides educational assistance to indigent students residing in Metro Manila (NCR). The program is designed to help students continue their education despite financial constraints and aims to nurture not only their academic growth but also their holistic development.

The program also offers:

  • Human and spiritual formation to guide beneficiaries in their values and personal growth.
  • Recreational activities to promote positive social interaction.
  • Tutorials and academic support to strengthen learning.
  • Health and wellness activities to ensure the overall well-being of students.

2. Who can qualify for the program?

Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Must be a resident student within Metro Manila (NCR).
  • Must belong to an indigent family with limited financial resources.
  • Must not be enrolled in a private school, unless the student is a full scholar in that school.
  • Must not be a beneficiary of any other government or private educational assistance programs (e.g., 4Ps, or other scholarship foundations).

3. What kind of assistance does the program provide?

The SAAD Program primarily provides educational assistance to qualified students. Support may include, but is not limited to:

  • Provision of school supplies, uniforms, or other essential learning materials.
  • Coverage of specific educational needs as determined by the guidelines of the program.
  • Access to formative, recreational, and health-related activities that support the student’s holistic growth.

4. What documents are required for application?

Applicants are required to submit the following documents:

  • School ID (latest)
  • Birth Certificate (PSA or Local Civil Registrar copy)
  • Baptismal Certificate
  • Certificate of Indigency issued by the Barangay or Local Government Unit
  • Marriage Certificate of parents/guardians (if applicable)

5. How can I apply?

To apply for the SAAD Program, please follow these steps:

6. How long does it take to process my application?

Processing times may vary depending on the volume of applications received. On average, applicants can expect a response within 2–6 weeks after submitting all complete requirements. In certain urgent cases, applications may be reviewed and processed more quickly.


7. Is my personal information kept confidential?

Yes. All personal and financial information submitted to the foundation is treated with confidentiality. Information is used solely for the purpose of evaluating applications and is never shared with third parties without consent.
